Well I am a big fan of just about everything comic related, on the other hand Supes is a big deal, but at the same time I kind of lean on to a bigger fan of Superboy a.k.a. Conner Kent R.I.P. Keep up the great work man.
i always prefered the original boy of steel, as in supes when he was a young lad, probly cuz im a losh geek though! never really had too much time for conner, though he probably didnt deserve to get killed, i like superboy prime as a villain tho, hes an interesting character...
I like the villain Superboy Prime as well. Of course I was a big fan of the Secret Identity Series that was slightly based off of him. I like the history with the Legion Superman had as well, but I liked what was done with Conner. I mean he was truly an evolving character. I mean he changed and actually grew over the years he was around. I know no one hardly ever stays dead in the Comicverse, but I think it was a cheap shot at getting comic purchases up. None the less I'm not in charge.
i never read the secret identity series, was that the one stuart immonen drew? itd be worth pickin up for his art, i rate him very highly! i started collecting with the death of superman series which introduced conner, didnt care for him much back then, but i suppose that was the point, he was supposed to be a cocky young upstart, i never really read much of his series with the exception of some of the legion appearance issues but i just never worked up an affinity for kon, not to say hes a poor character though, he seemed pretty cool in infinite crisis and i enjoyed the superboy vs. superboy action! lol and yeah chances are hell be back anyway....
See about his entry I was right about his age at the time. So to me it was like someone my age getting powers like Superman. If that makes sense. So I could relate to his cockiness, and mishaps. When he messed up it stuck around for the rest of his career. Everytime something bad happened he tried harder, but he always remembered when he screwed up. So I felt like he was a true hero because he screwed up, but kept trying none the less. Toward the end, before he died, he was being written as down and mopey for what he did while he was under the control of Luthor. Which was kind of hard to follow when he has over come things like that in the past. Anyways he went out fighting. So right after he started acting like himself again he died. I mean I hate that it happen, but I knew he would die to protect those important to him, namely everyone on Earth. So I have followed him for his entire career, and he became my favorite when I was diehard Superman follower. Anyways that's my rant. As for Secret Identity it was awesome. The art was great, but the story is what really brought it home in my opinion. It is definately worth a pick up. Not sure who drew it, in the middle of a move otherwise I would go look for you.
thats where the good old interweb comes in! twas indeed stuart immonen who drew it, i remember seeing ads for it, ill check it out, busiek is a good writer so the combo are worth a look! yeah i was around the same age as kon when he appeared too but it was the legion i related to more, there was a lot of diversity in that group so you could get a buzz off different characters whatever mood you were in.... look at me bringin up the legion in a perfectly good superboy conversation, any excuse lol! i always like when a hero goes out fighting tho so at least they gave him a good death
